Hey ho, another fic from me. Trinity Blood this time!

Puppet Master

How had it come to this?

How had he miscalculated so badly?

A scream ripped from Dietrich's throat as a claw almost gently slit open the skin of his abdomen and reached in to grasp his intestinal tract.

It had been a grave error, but he had been so sure. Furious at being treated like just another servant, enraged at being forced to follow orders. He hated it. Despised it. Only his Herr could hope to get away with it, and this had been one step too far. The punishment for the debacle with Radu had been too humilitating, and he would stand for it no longer.

His strings could hold anyone and anything, he was positive if he could just get enough attached before Cain noticed...

How foolish.

Cain's smile was bright and innocent as he tugged at the organ, pulling it out in a spiel of gore and bloodied clots of gristle. He deftly tied one end around Dietrich's wrist, and then abandoned it like a brilliant red bracelet that trailed inside the cherub-looking boy.

Moving around behind Dietrich, Cain's arms closed around a heaving chest, hands above a fluttering heartbeat as his lips moved to press an almost tender kiss to the soft skin of his neck. His voice was gentle, soothing, calming.

"Hush now, Dietrich, the lesson has just begun and I would hate to grow impatient with you."

"...Mein Herr, please..." His voice was a bare whimper, but he had to try. He wouldn't die for this mistake, he could only hope Cain had found amusement in his futile efforts to puppet something godlike in power.

Cain hushed him again, breath ghosting across his neck and disturbing the fine brown hairs on his jawline. His lips once more connecting tenderly with skin that was covered in a fine sheen of sweat, even as his claws dug mercilessly into the flesh of his back and ripped out his spinal cord.

Dietrich went limp immediately, paralysed and dying. He couldn't feel anything as his other arm was lifted and the end of his own spinal cord attached in a mirror bracelet to the bloodied intestine around his other.

The last thing he saw and heard before black oblivion claimed him was Cain, excited smile on his blood-spattered face, tugging on the disgusting trailing bits of himself to pull his arms over his head and murmuring soft words.

"Now, Marionette Spieler, my faithful puppeteer, dance on my strings."

This entry is under an lj cut because it's pointless whining about fuck all. Feel free to skip past it.

I like to hope I always try to be nice when I'm meeting new people, because I know I'm nervous about it so I'd think they make the same effort with me. Not going into details, because I don't want to hurt the parties involved, but that wasn't so recently and I was quite hurt by a player I had only recently met. I now feel uncomfortable to play in that community and even uncomfortable playing the character I do in general, just in case it upsets them further.

I know, over-reaction much. I'm just unused to upsetting people and it's really bothered me that I have.

I think I'm a little irrational because of being groggy and shit, and I was definitely over-emotional when it happened because of lack of sleep.

I just needed a mini rant (which, lol, so vague) and I don't want to hurt the other people involved any more by letting them know how much it's affected my confidence in this character. I'll get over it, I just have to tell myself to stfu being a whiny bitch.

Okay, shutting up now.

I get a character I really enjoy playing, I even get semi-confident that they're not crap, and then something happens to make me doubt why I'm playing them at all and make me consider dropping.

Step One
- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") I don't really know what I'm saying any more, last night was a circus. I possibly wouldn't have seen it, but with the entries on my friends page this morning I would have found out, and perhaps it was better I was told about it so I wasn't taken by complete surprise.

I'm not going to comment on anything disgusting that was said, but I wanted to thank anyone - anon or otherwise - who gave their sincere condolensces for Shannon.

I'm almost automatous at the moment, I've not slept still and spent a long time walking in the rain last night. Not just for walking, I was trying to find Jed's house, but I've only been once and I couldn't remember where it was.

I got an msn message from Alex, who goes to uni with me, telling me we had truss to put up tomorrow so come back in. I didn't know how to respond, I guess I'll try. But I'm not sure how well me + public company + ladders and heavy industrial equipment are going to mix at the moment.

I'm starting putting these under an lj cut, because you guys shouldn't have to read this crap every day.

I've been awake a long time now. I didn't sleep last night at all, but I don't feel tired. I had food, lots in fact, almost like my body was making up for not eating much, but then I was sick in the afternoon.

I'm trying to behave more 'normally' around everyone, they all hurt so much and I want to be strong for them. I can't even feel myself any more, like it hurts so much I can't even comprehend it any more. But as long as everyone else is alright then that's what matters. Shannon was so strong for everyone, such an amazing light that made everyone feel blessed to know her.

I know I'm not, I know I'm just the creeper on the fringes of chat that says the wrong thing and is weird, but I care so much about them and I want to try and keep her good work going. See, now I sound self-pitying, and I really aren't. I don't mind being the outsider, I don't have the vitality that she did, and I'm not strong. But I hope I can help a little, even from the outside.

I've said nothing once more, just a bunch of crap.

Ive never written in my personal journal so much before, it's usually weeks between entries and nothing this private. I guess these are exceptional circumstances, it just occured to me as I started writing - another useless thought that jumped into my head.

I slept properly, finally. I just fell sideways about 8am and slepyt through to 6pm ish, my neck and shoulder hurt like fuck where I landed and then slept awkwardly, but at least I slept I suppose.

After devouring that sandwich yesterday, I haven't eaten again. I went offline to try for some food a little earlier and failed miserably. I don't care, I'm trying to eat because of a promise made to a friend, but I can't bring myself to care that I'm not. I'm sorry, that's selfish and I'm horrible for thinking that way. I'm trying.

I wish I could help everyone else, I want to be able to take away everyone's pain. I know I can't, and people keep saying I need to focus on healing myself, but I can't. I just can't. I can't even think about living right now, just existing each moment. And that's hard enough.

I've fallen back on roleplaying as a distraction, it sounds heartless and I don't mean it to be. It lets me pretend to be not me for a small while, just concentrating on stupid mundane things like characterisation and stuff. Because if I'm concentrating on things that don't matter, stupid little things that really aren't important in the long run, then I don't think about the bone-crushing agony of what the reality is. And that's what I need at the moment, it's TOO much, too raw and too huge to think about at the moment.

I spoke to Callie again today. For anyone who wants it, she linked me to this Facebook group for Shannon.

None of this probably makes any sense.

Today was more numb than yesterday. I only got about four hours sleep, and then cried a lot into the morning.

I tried eating a sandwich earlier, I only got three bites of it before I threw it back up again.

It still hurts to breathe, it hurts deep in my ribcage like nothing I've felt before. I felt like such a failure a little earlier. Ebi has done this lovely thing where people can post letters to Shannon, and all I could write was a few words. It just hurts too much to do more, and all my words seem stupid and not strong enough to really tell her how much I need her back. But I still felt like a failure and panicked for a while.

While writing this entry Jade, my housemate, brought me a bacon and egg sandwich and put it next to me. I don't know what happened but I was suddenly ravenous and scoffed the whole thing in about 30 seconds flat.

It doesn't seem to be repeating on me yet, which is a good thing.

I feel like I'm being insensitive to my friends, who obviously miss her too and are grieving. I want to be there for them as well.

I just left Shannon an offline MSN message, I don't know why. I guess there's part of me still hoping this is some elaborate hoax, and if I could just tell her how much I love and need her then she'll come back to me.

I keep expecting her to squee at me over something Nisei or Joker have done, I keep expecting to be able to tell her I love her again.

I went into class this morning, but I broke down in the breakout area. My legs just gave way and I had to hold onto Jade while I cried. People were probably staring but I didn't notice, they sent me home and told me to come back when I could.

I just feel numb again now. I keep typing or saying whatever is in my head, as though it's of gravest importance, even though I'm probably talking about something utterly inappropriate and random. I can't help it, it's just blurting out of my mouth and I don't understand why.

I keep listening to three songs on repeat. There's a song Mary sent us a long time ago which we adopted as our song as a couple, a song Shannon said always reminded her of me when it played, and a song that always reminded me of Shannon.

I haven't yet slept or eaten, I can't. I feel like I should be doing something, but I just don't know what. I sort of want to roleplay just for something to focus my mind on and to not be me for even a short while, bury myself in the mundanities of a game. I feel horrible for wanting to, it feels inappropriate and insensitive and callous.

I'm sorry, none of thise even went anywhere. It's just flargh from my brain. Thank you so much to all my friends, I don't know I could even think about breathing right now without you.

So, I'm at my Halloween party tonight dressed as Aizen Sousuke, and we arrive at the main dance hall where it's going to be held. Jade then turns to me and says 'wait here', so I do.

About ten minutes later, I'm finally allowed into the hall when the song Jade requested of the DJ came on.

I walked into the Halloween Party to the rousing lines of...

The progression from Shinigami to Vizard to Arrancar had been ludicrously easy to map, a Darwinian process merely given an extra burst of speed by the Hougyoku. But to turn the table in the opposite direction, to see what would become of an Espada ‘devolved’ so to speak, attempting to take their mask while leaving the Shinigami aspect of their powers, it was this fascinating study that was currently occupying Szayel Aporro Grantz.

Naturally, no such research began right with the major experiment and contained many minor offshoots to gather speculative data. It was ludicrous to suppose a successful alteration could be completed without delving deep into the genetics of both species and attempting to find common DNA strands that would help combine and link the two.

Stacks of files filled his shelves on dissected subjects of all varieties and strengths of both Shinigami and Arrancar – the latter of which was available on demand; and the former almost too easy to trick through a senkai gate. He had long ago figured out the frequencies they transmitted orders on, and whenever he needed a new subject he would merely tap into the system and feed a false location where one of his fracción would be there to collect whichever hapless individual was sent.

But such research techniques had now yielded all the data he could squeeze from them, and it was obvious what the next step would be. The breeding of the two species would be the natural progression in creating a hybrid, which was the next step towards being able to change an Espada to a Shinigami at will. In fact, for someone of such vastly superior intellect as himself, this was a rather disappointing conclusion. It was too simple, even the added obstacle of making sure dead creatures reproductive systems became active long enough to conceive and bear a child did not add enough of a challenge to make this interesting.

So it had come to this, a flash of glasses hiding brilliant golden eyes as he recorded data on a successful insemination and a growing foetus. Pink hair tossed smugly over his shoulder as he looked down on the ‘mother’ to be.

“This pregnancy will be most fascinating.” Szayel said, voice like creamy silk as it slid through the air between them. “The many modifications of your body do not hold a candle to the fact I have made you, a dead thing of barely any human physiological resemblance, able to carry a child within you. It must gall you to stand second in the brilliance of another scientist, but you must at least be honoured to be an intrinsic part of such an important discovery.”

On the table, stomach seeping blood through staples and stitches, Kurotsuchi Mayuri just glared.

EXPO BABY~

I just got back from Expo! I met Gee and Em, it was epic. I have pictures of Pyramid Head and I bought a doujin.

Six Arrancar/Espada randomly bowed to me and said 'Aizen-sama' and I got so many hugs it was unreal.

I had the best day. I am so tired, and so excited, and now I must go and tech a show.

I'm going to start titling all my entries with lines from songs - and the first person to guess what the song is gets a prize... =D

Today was a funny, funny day. I was with my Contextual Studies tutor and she was discussing what essay I would be writing this year. Each year we have to write a 5000 word essay on something to do with theatre / performance, etc.

The conversation went like this:

Tutor: What are your interests?
Me: Well, sound design and protools primarily.
Tutor: No, no, your outside interests.
Me: Um... anime, manga, roleplaying, ju--
Tutor: Can I just stop you there... roleplaying?
Me: Yeah.
Tutor: Have you heard of online roleplaying sites?
Me: ... a little =/
Tutor: Okay, well how would you feel if your essay title was 'Creating a performance persona for an online theatrical experience, and the differences in characterising said characters'?
Me: Um. You want me to write an essay about playing characters in an online roleplaying game?
Tutor: Yes.
Me: So for research... would I have to take part in the games?
Tutor: Yes, creating a character would be useful. If you could create two for the contrast, that would greatly improve your ability to show differences in characterisation.
Me: So let me get this straight... you want me to write an essay about online rpg games? And research it by playing them? Do you mean like WoW and Second Life?
Tutor: Actually, I was thinking more of something forum based, if you don't know any websites I can give you a few. Most of it is fandom specific, for example taking an existing Harry Potter character and putting them in a new world.
Me: ...
Tutor: What do you think?
Me: ...I think I can do that =D
